atWork is designed in the way to require less personal information than other apps. In fact, we do not share your data with any third party tools for any reason. Moreover, atWork is fully GDPR compliant.

We believe data transparency is an important touchpoint to build up the healthy relationship between the app makers and their users. That’s why we would like you to take a couple of minutes and review relevant data privacy aspects below.

Which data do we collect?

As there is no account required to use atWork we do not ask for any personal data like your real name, email address, billing address or phone number.

We only see your email address and a name associated with it once you use our contact form and write us an email. Surely you can select any email address you want to contact us. There is also the way to get support via Twitter in case you don’t want to share your email address.

How do we store your data?

By default, your data will be stored in a database locally on your device, and we do not have any access to it.

Every database can be exported as a backup copy which contains all information you entered in atWork: entries and categories (clients, projects, tasks) with all attributes, special days (vacation, sickness, public holidays), list of workplaces, regular working hours and the rules for automatic breaks. The backup copy is a snapshot of your database at the moment of its creation. It has a special file extension .atwork and is not password protected. It means it can be opened in the latest version of atWork on any device. This is important to know in case you share your file with someone else.

There are two possibilities to backup your data:

  1. Create a backup copy in iCloud
  2. Send a backup copy via email to any email address

We do not have access to your backup file in any case. Please make sure you create and store it in an appropriated and secured way.

How to get a copy of your data?

You can export your data as a CSV file (part of atWork Plus) and open it later on another device by using applications like Apple Numbers, Microsoft Excel, Open Office, etc. The file contains such information as entries and categories (clients, projects, tasks) with all attributes and special days. It basically allows you to transfer your data from atWork in a readable form as a table.

Alternatively, you can see all your data in the app itself. There is no hidden information.

How to delete your data?

To delete the database which contains all your data you need to remove atWork from your device. In case you used iCloud backup functionality you need to go to Files app on your iPhone or iPad or Finder app on your Mac and delete all files in the folder iCloud Drive > atWork.

Which permissions does atWork have?

Push notifications
We may request permission to send you push notifications regarding your location updates or any relevant app features. If you wish to opt-out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device’s settings: Go to Settings > Notifications > atWork. If you completely disable notifications, you won’t be able to see the number of active entries as the red badge on the app icon.

Location data
We may request permission to track location-based information from your device to provide location-based services as automatic time tracking. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings: Go to Settings > Data Privacy > Location Services > atWork. In any case, your location data is stored on your device.

Calendar
We may request calendar access to import public holidays from it. If you wish to change our access, you may do so in your device’s settings. Go to Settings > atWork.

How do we provide support?

In order to ensure great customer service, we might ask you to provide us your backup copy via email. After clarification of the issue, the backup copy will be deleted immediately.

Changes of privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by “Last updated” date and it will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via release notes of a new atWork version in the App Store app or inside atWork itself.

How can you contact us about this policy?

If you have questions or comments about this policy, you may email us at support@atworkapp.com.
